1. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes the information practices of the independent Swearingin.com Root Platform. It applies to Root Platform accounts, profiles, posts, comments, media, social relationships, notifications, reports, moderation, account security, and related Root Platform functions.

Other independently operated sites or applications linked from Swearingin.com may have separate account systems and privacy practices.

2. Information the Root Platform collects

Account information

Registration collects your name, email address, password credential, and the policy and adult-eligibility acknowledgments required to create an account. The Root Platform also maintains verification state, account status, account timestamps, password-change state, and other security-related account information.

Profile information

If you create a profile, the service may store information you provide such as username, display name, biography, location information, professional history, skills, credentials, projects, portfolio information, profile media references, and the visibility and discovery choices associated with that profile.

Content and media

The service stores content you choose to create, including posts, post revisions, comments, reactions, uploaded images, media metadata, media variants, and the relationships between media and Root Platform content.

Current image-upload source accepts validated JPEG, PNG, and WebP images. Uploads may be staged privately while they are checked and processed into application media variants.

Social and relationship information

The Root Platform stores social relationship data needed to provide follows, followers, connection requests, mutual connections, blocks, mutes, discovery, and activity-feed behavior.

Preferences and notifications

The service may store account settings, privacy settings, notification preferences, in-app notifications, read state, and information needed to send security, social, and moderation notifications.

Safety and moderation information

The service may store reports, report details, moderation cases, moderation actions, content-status history, appeals, appeal decisions, and audit events needed to operate the Root Platform's safety and accountability systems.

Security and technical information

Authentication and administrative audit records may include information such as event type, account association, a protected hash derived from an email address where applicable, IP address, user agent, event time, and limited event metadata.

The service also uses session information and operational logs needed to authenticate users, prevent abuse, diagnose problems, and secure the platform.

3. How information is used

Root Platform information is used to provide and secure accounts; verify email addresses; authenticate sessions; recover accounts; provide profiles, publishing, media, social and discovery features; honor privacy and visibility settings; send requested or security-critical notifications; prevent abuse; investigate reports; operate moderation and appeals; provide user-data exports; maintain audit trails; and operate, troubleshoot, and improve the Root Platform.

4. Public information and your visibility choices

New onboarding profiles begin private, location visibility begins private, and discovery begins disabled. You may later change supported visibility settings.

Information or content that you deliberately make public may be available to visitors who are not signed in and may be indexed or copied outside Swearingin.com. Signed-in, connections-only, private, blocking, and muting controls are enforced by the Root Platform according to the applicable resource policy.

5. Cookies, sessions, and tracking

The Root Platform uses an essential session cookie and related framework security mechanisms to keep users signed in, protect requests, preserve session state, and support account security.

The current Root Platform source does not include third-party advertising or analytics JavaScript designed to track users across unrelated websites for targeted advertising.

Do Not Track

Because the current Root Platform does not implement that form of cross-site advertising or analytics tracking, browser Do Not Track signals do not currently cause a different application behavior. If cross-site tracking practices materially change, this policy must be updated before those changed practices are treated as part of the service.

6. When information may be disclosed

Information may be disclosed in the following categories of circumstances:

• when you deliberately make profile information or content public;
• to infrastructure, hosting, storage, email-delivery, or other service providers acting on behalf of the platform as needed to provide the service;
• when reasonably necessary to investigate security, abuse, reports, moderation, or protect users and the service;
• when disclosure is required by applicable law or valid legal process; or
• when you direct or authorize the disclosure.

The current Root Platform source does not implement a feature for selling personal information or delivering targeted advertising.

7. Third-party collection across websites

Current Root Platform pages do not load third-party advertising or analytics JavaScript designed to collect a user's activity over time across unrelated websites. External sites reached through links from Swearingin.com may have their own collection practices, which are not controlled by this Root Platform policy.

8. Email and notifications

Verification and password-recovery messages are security-critical account email. Verified users may also choose supported email and in-app preferences for social and moderation notifications.

9. Data access, correction, and export

Supported account, profile, privacy, visibility, notification, email, and password information can be reviewed or changed through the corresponding Root Platform account controls.

The Root Platform provides a password-confirmed user-data export containing the categories implemented by the export service, including account and profile information, settings, posts, comments, reactions, media records, relationship records, submitted reports and appeals, and notifications.

Some safety, security, audit, moderation, retention, or records involving other users may not be included in the self-service export.

10. Retention and account closure

Retention depends on the type and purpose of the information. Staged media uploads are configured for limited processing retention. Published content, processed media, account records, and other operational records follow the Root Platform's application retention and deletion behavior.

Closing an account soft-deletes the Root user and prevents normal authentication and public exposure under the application's existing account and visibility contracts. Account closure does not automatically destroy every security, audit, moderation, safety, retention, or username-tombstone record.

11. Adult-only public accounts

Public Root Platform accounts are currently intended only for people age 18 or older. Registration does not request a date of birth; users instead attest that they meet the minimum-age requirement.

If you believe an ineligible minor has created an account, contact us so the account can be reviewed.

12. Policy changes

Material changes to this Privacy Policy will be reflected by an updated published version and effective date. When appropriate to the nature of a change, registered users may also be notified through available account or communication channels.
